We believe in paying it forward.
We are Kate and Manfred and the Little Purple House is our home. It is quirky and creeky as only a 130 year old cottage can be, and oh so comfy-cozy!
Kate moved to Wilmington and into the cottage nearly 20 years ago. Somewhere along the way, our international love story began, which is why we spend so much time away. When we’re not there, we’re in Manfred’s hometown of Vienna, Austria.
In the past, we opened our home to holiday makers while abroad. Over the years we had some wonderful guests, many of whom shared personal stories with us about why they chose to stay in our little purple house. A common theme kept popping up: they were seeking respite.
We could certainly relate. After one of our parents suffered a stroke, we struggled in the aftermath. Thankfully, we could retreat to our cottage— it seems there is little a good sit on the porch can’t soothe. Which is why we want take it a step further and offer our little purple house solely as a place of respite for the weary.
Our goal is to create this opportunity through what we can provide combined with the generosity of others who share our desire to pay it forward. We know that together we can lift up those who could really use a bright spot on the horizon.
